Although the woman was incessantly bombarded with all sorts of labels, incest was not one of them.

Actually, she got impregnated through In vitro fertilization (IVF)!

In all honesty, it is natural for you to find it ludicrous. But if you think this is bizarre, wait till you complete the book.
